Tuesday, January 19, 2010 ( @ 8:19 PM ) Actually i've been updating quite abit, just don't know why they all keep getting shoved to the "drafts" folder. Anyway, a few interesting things that have happened so far. 1)HK/Macau/Guangzhou trip 2)Night cycling to tampines trail 3)Getting a new job 4)Ruanxian 5)Tackling a really huge jump and crash landing. I'll just touch on these one by one... 1) Well, for the HK trip, i was expecting much more from it? Since my dad is a real LP (lonely planet) guy, meaning he follows the book directions, mum and I didn't really get much chance to do our own stuff without feeling guilty for making dad go off on his own, following the book's directions. So ya.. HK was below expectations i guess. Macau on the other hand... was simply awesome, i think it's cos of all the casino's around that make the place look really upmarket. The Venetian was pretty awesome, as was all the other casinos (too bad i didn't get to gamble), and the food was just as great, if not greater. Haha. Guangzhou was probably the best part of the trip cos i got to meet all my coolio uncles and anuties, not to mention my cousin who is like.. 35? But he works in the American embassy and is totally my kind of guy. 2) The night cycling trip to tampines trail with Tim was definitely one of the longest cycling trips i've ever taken, and my ass pretty much felt like it had been a***led big time when we got to the trail. Needless to say it was PITCH black when we got there (3am was it? or 2.30am?), we couldnt see nuts at all, and thank goodness tim brought his security guard torchlight or we'd have crashed into goodness knows what. So anyway, even though is was around 3am and totally dark, the level of excitement and fear definitely rose to new levels that night/morning, and adrenaline was being pumped out like nobody's business. And even though our asses was sore, since we were there, we decided to just gun it and do the trail in total darkness. The trail was muddy and mucky and our tires sank to about half it's height in the mud at some points, our shoes were muddied, shirts and jackets soiled, bikes looked as if they just had a mud bath. but in the end, the ride was totally worth it. And the end of the trail, is was actually pretty easy, but because of the near zero visibility, it became a real challenge. Needless to say we're going to do it again sometime. 3) As some of you know, i initially planned to get a temporary job at Fairprice, but due to my dad's persuasion as well as my mum's, i got an internship job at an engineering firm that makes train components. At first it was pretty boring, then it got pretty interesting, then boring again... Haha 4) RUANXIAN! What can i say man, it's like a family. It's totally awesome, better than any orchestra i've been to. I guess it's because we're all passionate about 1 thing, and that's ruan. I really enjoy practices although it's really tiring, the music just sounds really great. Not to mention i've made new friends and all. OH and, if you're reading this... You're invited to the ruanxian concert on the 7th of February 2010 Sunday, 3-4pm Esplanade Concert Hall. And it's free :) 5) Okay, most recently... Yiloong me and paul went cycling at T15 the other day, bla bla bla fast forward>>>>> Okay, at one point in time, paul left to go home cos his stomach hurt. Me and yiloong were at the top of a hill along rifle range road. So i decided to go down, before i knew it, i think i was hitting speeds of around 15-20km/h on my bike going downhill, on the way down, there was this little "jump" (more of a hump) which was followed by an approximately 50cm drop, so i gunned it... Just before i hit the jump i realised that if i were to take the jump head on, my bike would probably break, so i braked a little... As a result... i did not have enough momentum and when i shifted my weight forward so that the front wheel could catch the landing earlier, i flew off the bike and onto the dirt path. Leaving me with deep cuts on my left elbow, a really long cut on my right elbow, and a pretty badly scraped knee. OH, and broken specs and a big bruise on the bridge of my nose. But otherwise, i'm okay... I would really like to thank the 3 Caucasians who came to help me. and SCREW the singaporean couple who were just sitting nearby and watching my shout in agony as if it were a movie... SCREW YOU!!! Haha So that's basically it! I'm recovering slowly physically, but i think i'm coming down with something... 0 comments |
